Link Up: The Orchestra Sings
The Link Up program is currently open only to 4th grade students in the Fort Worth Independent School District. These performances are not open to the public.
Utilizing materials provided free of charge by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute, music teachers in the Fort Worth ISD guide their 4th grade students in exploring symphonic music through a yearlong, hands-on music curriculum. Over 6,000 4th graders participate in active music making in the classroom and learn repertoire on the recorder or with their voice.
This season's Link Up program – The Orchestra Sings – explores melodies from a wide range of colorful orchestral repertoire including Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony and Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. The culmination of the yearlong program is a live performance in which students sing and/or play their recorder along with the Fort Worth Symphony.
